Ontario Medical Association

Peter Simm successfully advised a group of dissident physicians seeking removal of certain officers of the Ontario Medical Association (2017).

At a special general meeting on Jan. 29, 2017, resolutions brought by the dissident group against certain OMA officers received a majority a votes, but did not reach the two-thirds threshold needed for their automatic ouster. However, upon further reflection on the implications of the voting results, the targeted officers (who also comprised the Executive Committee of the OMA’s Board of Directors) resigned en masse  a week later, on Feb. 6, 2017.

The resignations received national media attention through the CBC and the Canadian Press wire service, but obviously were of interest primarily in Ontario. (Twelve enlargeable examples of media reports are shown here.)
